Finance Students visit New York each year
Check out the newest look in the Criminal Justice department. These CJ students look very sharp in their new uniforms.
Please see the attached about Boone senior Shahier Rahman. He won an oratorical competition, first Districts, then States, and is going to Nationals. You can see why he is co-captain of the mock trial team; he is a gifted speaker. This is apart from his mock trial work.
We should all be very proud of him.
Please read the below, it is a quick read.

We are State Champions, going to Oklahoma City for Nationals in May!
The kids have all worked extremely hard; we've been practicing since November, and for the last 2 months we've practiced on average six days a week, with many late practices. Therefore, please congratulate these kids when you see them, they deserve some major kudos:

- John Schimmelpfennig - attorney
- Bianca Guerrier - witness (FDLE agent)
- Christina Greear - friend of the Defendant
- Justin McConnell - fingerprint expert
- Brittany Mountford - Defendant
- Sarah Feraji - two roles, for prosecution: political operative, (Carl Rove-esque) and for defense: Editor of a newspaper
- Nalini Prassad - attorney understudy
- Vanessa Merassaint - witness understudy
New Magnet Students
We would like to welcome all the new magnet students. We currently have 60 new law students 43 new Criminal Justice students and 28 new Finance Students. We are considered full at this time. The downtown office will be conducting a lottery for any spaces that might open up and have reported that they will notify students selected in May. Thanks to the many of you who attended the orientations held Monday and Tuesday. If you would like to view the Power Point Presentation from that orientation please click here. Ms. Clary will be meeting with all new students within the next 2 weeks. Make sure that you get your registration packet into Guidance as soon as possible to set up your appointment for course selection and four year planning.
Congratulations to the Youth in Government Winners
If you have any of the following students, be sure to congratulate them for their stellar performances in the Youth in Govt. State Assembly held in Tallahassee this last Thurs, Fri, and Sat.
- Brenna Egan
- Nalini Prasad
- Laura Rodriguez
They represented Boone (competing against 22 other teams from around the state) as a law firm presenting both criminal and civil appellate cases before the Florida Youth in Govt. Supreme Court in the Florida Supreme Court Building.
They did an absolutely amazing job with their briefs and oral arguments, so much so that Brenna received the "Most Outstanding Civil Attorney" Award and the team came away with the "Most Outstanding Law Firm" Award. We were the only school to receive two top awards for the judicial branch.
Hats off to our three fine future attorneys.
Congratulations
Congratulations
to Caitlin Matheny (Law) and Nalini Prasad (Law) who were selected to represent the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 19 at Girl's State this summer! They are two of five female students who were selected to represent the four schools in Unit 19. Magnet is very proud that these two girls we selected for this prestigious event. |
