Prospective Magnet students must complete the Orange County Public School application which you can find at http:/schoolchoice.ocps.net.  Click on the Magnet Program button. You should find the magnet application tab at the top. The application will be available on October 1, 2006. The application needs to go to the downtown office at the ELC - not to Boone. You can find additional information by viewing the Information Flier from the Magnet Fair and Open House

Want to know what a successful Magnet student looks like??

•     This student is making an A or B in advanced English and advanced Social Studies in 8th grade
•     This student has passed the reading part of the 7th grade FCAT with at least a level 3 and has consistently scored at least a level 3 or above in precious years.
•     Finance applicants should have a math 7th grade FCAT Dvelopmental Scale Score of at least 1990  
•     If the student took a different type of test, the stanines for reading and math should be 7, 8, or 9.
•     A student with a stanine of a 6 could be successful if they are really motivated and are willing to work really hard
•     Successful Magnet students are recommended for Honors English and Honors World History by their 8th grade teachers - talk to your teachers
•     Successful Magnet students are dedicated to the program for all four years
•     Successful Magnet students have a love of learning and like to be challenged
•     Successful Magnet students always do their homework and always turn assignments in on time
