One of the most important lessons education should teach is discipline.  While it does not appear as a subject, it underlies the whole educational structure.  It is the training that develops self-control, orderliness, and efficiency.  It is the key to good conduct and proper consideration of others.  With an understanding of the purpose of discipline in school, you will form a positive attitude, and not only do your part in making school an effective place of learning, but develop the habit of self-restraint which will make you a better person.

The administration and staff of Boone High School endorse the basic concept of student freedom.  With this freedom, each student must recognize the rights and obligations of other members of Boone High School and the Orange County School Board to ensure each student’s basic right.

Student rights

  1. Attend school and have a chance to learn;
  2. Be treated fairly;
  3. Expect other students to obey school rules

Students Expectations

  1. Have school name badge available upon request;
  2. Follow the instructions of faculty, staff, and administration;
  3. Treat other students with respect;
  4. Act properly at all school activities and on a school bus;
  5. Dress appropriately in accordance with the school and district dress code.

Students who do not conduct themselves in accordance with the regulations established and thereby hinder the progress of other students will be disciplined as outlined in the Orange County Student Code of Conduct.  All students are required to read the Orange County Student Code of Conduct given to them the first week of school.  It outlines the consequence of each specific rule infringement.

Suspension
A suspended student may not loiter or appear on school property or attend any school-sponsored activity at or away from the school.  A student will be readmitted to school after a satisfactory solution to the student’s conduct is agreed upon by parents and administration.  It will be the student’s responsibility to make up all work missed while on suspension.
