Information Technology Academy (AOIT)
With fast growing technology in fields such as government, industry, and private business, as well as in personal lives, there is the need for exploration and development in the multimedia areas. The Academy of Information Technology provides students with the opportunity to explore the following multimedia areas: networking and computer support, graphic arts, digital design, drafting, journalism, programming, television production, and web design.
Interested incoming 9th grade students must have a 2.0 GPA and a good disciplinary record to apply. Applications can be obtained from the Guidance Office at Boone High School and submitted to Ms. Susan Gertel, AOIT Guidance Counselor. Upon acceptance into the Academy, 9th grade students are enrolled into Communications Tech/Graphic Arts I, Drafting I, Journalism I, TV Production I, or take a required core Academy course for the other multimedia areas. This course provides 2 credits as students complete competencies for Business Systems and Technology-BST (8209020) and Introduction to Information Technology (8207310). Upon completion of the required core Academy course, students then continue with electives in their chosen field. |
